Silent Honor Foundation Inc. ("Silent Honor," "we," "us") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving military veterans. This policy explains what information we collect through silenthonorfoundation.org and our member portal, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
- Account & membership details you provide: name, email, phone, state, date of birth, branch and service status, and profile photo.
- Eligibility documents you upload, such as your DD‑214, used only to verify veteran status.
- Program information you share with your counselor or enter into tools (e.g., budgets, financial intake, course progress, messages).
- Assistant conversations you have with Major Finance and messages you send.
- Technical data such as log and device information needed to operate and secure the site.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide and improve our programs (credit education, financial coaching, courses) and verify eligibility.
- Communicate with you about your account, applications, and services.
- Operate the Major Finance AI assistant and support you through our counselors.
- Maintain security, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
Artificial Intelligence (Major Finance & staff tools)
Some features use AI. When you chat with Major Finance, your message is sent to a third‑party AI model provider (via Amazon Bedrock) to generate a response. We do not use your conversations to train third‑party public models, and we instruct our provider not to. AI output is general education, not professional advice, and may be inaccurate — see our Terms of Use. Please do not enter your SSN, full account numbers, or passwords into the assistant.
Sensitive Information (DD‑214 & documents)
Documents you upload are stored encrypted and access‑restricted, and are used only to verify eligibility and deliver services. We do not sell your personal information.
How We Share Information
We share information only with: your assigned counselor and authorized Silent Honor staff; service providers who help us operate the site (e.g., cloud hosting, email, and AI infrastructure) under confidentiality obligations; and as required by law. We do not sell your personal information.
Security & Retention
We use administrative and technical safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest for sensitive files. No system is perfectly secure. We keep information for as long as needed to provide services and meet legal and nonprofit recordkeeping requirements.
Your Choices
You can view and update your profile in the member portal, and you may request access to or deletion of your information by contacting us. We will honor requests as required by applicable law.
Children
Our services are intended for adults (veterans and their households). We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date.
